Marisa Hofmeister
Marisa Hofmeister, DVM, is an emergency veterinarian at Carolina Veterinary Specialists with a special interest in emergency and critical care and collaborative specialty medicine.
Growing up in North Carolina, Dr. Hofmeister earned both her Bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from North Carolina State University. She went on to complete a small animal internship through the Vet Pets Internship Program before beginning her career as an emergency veterinarian outside of Raleigh, NC. She later moved to New Jersey, where she worked as an emergency veterinarian at an emergency and specialty hospital before joining the team at Carolina Veterinary Specialists.
Dr. Hofmeister has a special interest in emergency and critical care and enjoys the collaborative nature of emergency medicine. She is passionate about working alongside specialists across multiple disciplines to provide her patients with the highest level of care possible. She especially values supporting pets and their families through challenging moments, whether that means helping a family navigate a difficult diagnosis or making sure a hospitalized patient has everything they need to feel safe, comfortable, and perhaps even a little spoiled—including the comfiest bed in the hospital.
When she’s not at the hospital, Dr. Hofmeister can usually be found on the water, planning her next trip, getting lost in a good book, or enjoying time with friends. She also loves spending time with her dog, Finn, who has taught her firsthand just how special the human-animal bond can be and how deeply our pets become part of our lives. Her relationship with Finn has given her an even greater appreciation for the trust and connection between pets and their families, something she carries with her into every patient interaction.
